Who should be the Centre Daily Times Girls Athlete of the Week for April 25-30?

Editor’s note: The Centre Daily Times will publish a weekly poll on Monday mornings for readers to choose the Athlete of the Week for the previous week of competition. The poll will close at noon Friday.

Here are this week’s nominees for the Centre Daily Times girls high school athlete of the week presented in alphabetical order. They were selected by the CDT sports staff via stats compiled by the CDT or sent to cdtscores@centredaily.com.

Alivia Bizzarri, Philipsburg-Osceola softball

Bizzarri allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking one in a 3-2 victory over Tyrone on April 29.

Maya Hockenberry, State College track and field

Hockenberry won the 3,200-meter race with a time of 12:37.96 in State College’s meet with Cumberland Valley on April 26.

Sienna Barnhart, Bellefonte softball

In four victories over Loyalsock Township, Huntingdon (two victories) and Penns Valley, Barnhart has put up big numbers. She’s gone 7-for-10 from the plate (.700 batting average) with an on-base plus slugging percentage of 1.800 OPS, four singles, three doubles, five runs batted in, nine runs scored and five walks.

Zoe Rankin, Bellefonte gymnastics

Rankin competed in the Region 7 Regional Gymnastics meets against girls and walked away with her highest all around score of the season at 38.125 and a 2nd place finish which qualified her for Nationals, which will take place in Arizona in May. In addition, Rankin was just awarded a full ride scholarship to Kent State for gymnastics.
