Poll results: Philipsburg-Osceola soccer player selected as CDT Girls Athlete of the Week

A Philipsburg-Osceola soccer player has won the Centre Daily Times high school girls athlete of the week poll, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.

Chloe Matson had one goal for two points in P-O’s 1-1 tie with Huntingdon on Oct. 11. She also had a goal for two points in P-O’s 4-2 loss to Bellefonte on Oct. 17. She won the poll with 57% of the vote (8,800 votes).

Here were the other nominees for the week of Oct. 11-18:

Ella Hadley, Penns Valley volleyball: Hadley had five kills in Penns Valley’s 3-0 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct. 11. She went on to have 18 kills and 19 digs in the Lady Rams’ 3-1 victory over Bald Eagle on Oct. 17.

Marlee Kwasnica, State College cross country: Kwasnica placed fourth overall in the Mid Penn Championships with a time of 18:53.

Scotty Dinges, Penns Valley girls soccer: Dinges had a goal and assist for three points in Penns Valley’s 2-2 draw with Bald Eagle on Oct. 11.

Sybil Thompson, Bald Eagle soccer: Thompson had a goal for two points in Bald Eagle’s 2-2 tie with Penns Valley on Oct. 11. She went on to have two goals for four points in the Lady’s Eagles’ 2-1 win over Hollidaysburg on Oct. 13.

Triniti Jackson, Bellefonte girls soccer: Jackson had two goals in Bellefonte’s 4-2 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct. 17. She came in second in the poll with 37% of the vote (5,712 votes).

The poll ended at noon Saturday. To be clear, this poll is not scientific and just for fun. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. The next poll will be published at CentreDaily.com on Tuesday.
