Poll results: Penns Valley football player selected as CDT Boys Athlete of the Week

A Penns Valley football player has won the final Centre Daily Times high school boys athlete of the week poll for the regular fall sports season, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.

Miles Brooks had six catches for 142 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, along with a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown and four tackles (three solo) in Penns Valley’s 42-0 win against Bellwood-Antis on Oct. 28. He won the poll with 58% of the vote (2,210 votes).

Here were the other nominees for the week of Oct. 25-Nov. 1:

Cam Watkins, Bald Eagle football: Watkins had three tackles (three solo), all three tackles were for a loss, along with a sack in Bald Eagle’s 19-0 victory over Purchase Line on Oct. 28. He added in three catches for 80 yards.

D’Antae Sheffey, State College football: Sheffey had 23 carries for 158 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in State College’s 36-7 win over Chambersburg on Oct. 28. In his freshman season, he compiled 1,252 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 132 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Jakodi Jones, Philipsburg-Osceola football: Jones had 20 carries for 154 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in Philipsburg-Osceola’s 56-34 victory over Ridgway-Johnsonburg on Oct. 28. He completed his junior season with 124 carries for 635 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He came in second in the poll with 32% of the vote (1,218 votes).

The poll ended at noon Saturday. To be clear, this poll is not scientific and just for fun, and this was the final poll of the 2022 fall sports season.
