Below were the other nominees for the week of Jan. 3-9.

Braeden Shrewsberry, State College boys basketball: Shrewsberry had a strong performance in a 60-40 win over Carlisle on Jan. 3. He had 10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals. He followed with a 16-point game in a 64-33 victory against Williamsport on Jan. 5. The senior added two assists, two rebounds and a steal.

Charlie Yartz, Saint Joseph’s boys basketball: Yartz had 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals against Newport in a 68-49 victory on Jan. 3. The sophomore filled up the stat sheet once again in a 63-54 win over Upper Dauphin on Jan. 5 with 17 points, seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks and five steals.

Ian Phillips, Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling: Phillips (152) had five takedowns to gain a 12-3 major decision over Bellefonte’s Jack McHail on Jan. 7 in the two team’s dual meet.

Jeffre Pifer, Bald Eagle wrestling: Pifer (152) had had six wins this week all by pin — five alone on Saturday to help Bald Eagle win the Juniata Duals. He came in second in the poll, with 2,864 votes.

Michael Lower, Saint Joseph’s boys basketball: Lower had 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block on Jan. 3 in a 68-49 win against Newport. He went on to have 15 points, four rebounds and one steal in a 63-54 victory against Upper Dauphin on Jan. 5.
