State College football’s Sheffey and Gaul receive multiple Division 1 scholarship offers

Lightning struck twice for State College football players who received Division 1 scholarship offers over the past week.

Sophomore linebacker and wide receiver Michael Gaul received offers from both Virginia Tech and Toledo on Tuesday morning. He wasn’t the only player to receive an offer on Tuesday, with freshman running back D’Antae Sheffey receiving offers of his own from Virginia Tech and Toledo, while also nabbing one from Pittsburgh. Sheffey was offered by Syracuse on Friday.

Gaul was a first-team All-Centre defensive team selection and an All-State selection at linebacker by PA Football News, while Sheffey was named a Co-Offensive Player of the Year and an All-State pick at running back by PA Football News.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Gaul was a second-team All-Mid Penn selection with his team making it to the PIAA Class 6A state semifinals in 2022. Gaul had 19 receptions for 357 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He had 122 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, one sack, three quarterback hurries, four pass deflections, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Sheffey had 223 carries for 1725 rushing yards (7.7 yards per carry) and 22 rushing touchdowns to go with 17 receptions for 167 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in 14 games with the Little Lions in 2022.
