Poll results: Penns Valley swimmer selected as CDT Girls Athlete of the Week

A swimmer from Penns Valley is the girls athlete of the week for Jan. 16-22, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.

Charlotte Delaney won with a time of 5:46.02 in the 500-yard freestyle against Bellefonte and DuBois on Jan. 18. She had 66% of the vote in the poll, (648 votes).

Here were the other nominees:

Aubrey Yartz, Saint Joseph’s girls basketball: Yartz was fifth in the Tri Valley Athletic Association in points per game with 11.5. She was also sixth with 61 total rebounds on the season and is third in blocked shots, with 18 on the year.

Avery Dinges, Penns Valley girls basketball: Dinges led her team with 15 points in a 47-35 loss to Tyrone on Jan. 19. She followed up with six points with a 6-point performance against Southern Huntingdon in a 48-37 loss.

Finley Musser, Bellefonte girls swimming: Musser was a part of a girls 200-yard medley relay team, along with Addie Pringle, Katelyn Packer and Emmalin Pringle, that finished with a time of 2:06.46 in Bellefonte’s swim meet against Penns Valley and DuBois on Jan. 19. The senior Musser went on to win the girls 200-yard IM in a time of 2:31.87 and the girls 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.35, in addition to the girls 400-yard freestyle relay (Musser, A. Pringle, Packer, Kiaha McCool) in 4:00.49. She came in second in the poll, with 11% of the vote, (111 votes).

Khendyl Sharrer, Philipsburg-Osceola girls basketball: Sharrer had 10 points on four made field goals, along with nine rebounds, two assists and seven steals in a 58-25 loss to Clearfield on Jan. 16. She had eight points, eight rebounds, one assist and six steals in a 39-26 loss to Moshannon Valley on Jan. 17. In a 49-22 loss to Bald Eagle on Jan. 19, Sharrer had 11 points, eight rebounds and nine steals.

Molly Workman, State College girls swimming: Workman’s team in the 200-yard medley relay (Kelly Brownstead, Madison Watschke and Ditta Kowalik) won in a time of 1:52.19 in a meet against Hollidaysburg on Jan. 20. State College won 150-33.
