Poll results: Bellefonte basketball player selected as CDT Girls Athlete of the Week
A Bellefonte basketball player who didn’t start the game but scored in double digits is the girls athlete of the week for Jan. 30-Feb 5, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.
Jaylee Lose had 17 points off of the bench in a 48-39 win against Philipsburg-Osceola on Feb. 3. She had 59% of the vote (2,705 votes).
Here were the other nominees:
Aubrey Yartz, Saint Joseph’s Catholic girls basketball: Yartz had her first career triple-double on Feb. 3 against Upper Dauphin in a 44-31 loss. The first-year forward had 17 points, 13 rebounds, 11 blocks, an assist and three steals in the game.
Julie Emel, Penns Valley girls basketball: Emel had nine points in Penns Valley’s 55-22 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola on Jan. 30. She was her team’s leading scorer with 12 points in a 65-29 loss to Hollidaysburg on Feb. 2.
Khendyl Sharrer, Philipsburg-Osceola girls basketball: The P-O senior had 10 points, five rebounds and five steals against Penns Valley in a 55-23 loss on Jan. 30. Her team won the following day, 40-27 against Northern Cambria, where she had 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and 10 steals. Sharrer went on to have nine points, 11 rebounds, two assists and seven steals in a 48-39 loss against Bellefonte on Feb. 3.
