Poll results: Bald Eagle Area basketball player selected as CDT Boys Athlete of the Week
A Bald Eagle Area basketball player is the boys athlete of the week for Feb. 13-20, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.
Blaze Angellotti had 16 points in BEA’s 65-43 victory over Jersey Shore on Feb. 13. He took 70% of the votes in the poll, 8,409 votes.
Here were the other nominees:
Braeden Shrewsberry, State College boys basketball: Shrewsberry had a game-high 25 points and seven 3-pointers in State College’s 66-40 victory over Trinity in the Mid-Penn boys basketball championship on Feb. 16.
Lucas Fye, Coen Bainey and Caleb Close, Bald Eagle wrestling: Fye (121) had an 5-4 win over United’s Gideon Bracken to win the District 6 championship on Feb. 18. Bainey (127) had a 13-1 major decision over Mount Union’s Jacik Hess to take home a title. Close (172) took home the championship over Southern Huntingdon’s Tommy Cohenour by injury default at 1:22. Bald Eagle finished first at 201.5 points.
Ty Watson, Penns Valley wrestling: Watson (152) defeated Philipsburg-Osceola’s Marcus Gable 7-4 in their PIAA District 6 title match on Feb. 18. It was Watson’s second District 6 championship victory. He came in second in the poll, with 27% of the vote, or 3,218 votes.
