Poll results: Penns Valley basketball player selected as CDT Girls Athlete of the Week
A Penns Valley basketball player is the girls athlete of the week for Feb. 13-20, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.
Ann-Marie McMurtrie was Penns Valley’s leading scorer with 11 points in the team’s 34-21 loss to Montoursville on Feb. 14. She had 4,444 votes (63%) in the poll.
Here were the other nominees:
Abigail Hoover, Bald Eagle girls basketball: Hoover’s 297 points this season helped the Lady Eagles secure a district playoff berth. (The team was defeated by Westmont on Thursday.)
Isabelle McSweeney, State College girls swimming: McSweeney finished with a time of 2:11.85 in the women’s 200-yard freestyle to win the event in the Mid Penn Plunge Championships on Feb. 17-18. She came in second in the poll, with 1,835 votes (26%).
Jordyn Steindl, State College girls basketball: Steindl had a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds in State College’s 64-49 loss to Mifflin County on Feb. 20 in the District 6 Class 6A semifinals.
The poll ended at noon Saturday. As a reminder, the poll is not scientific and just for fun. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want.
