Poll results: Bellefonte soccer player selected as CDT Athlete of the Week

The readers of CentreDaily.com have selected this week’s girls’ athlete of the week.

Angelina Kasak won the poll for the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3 for her performance with Bellefonte girls soccer.

Kasak helped the Raiders start their season with two wins, one of which was a 2-1 victory over Huntingdon in double overtime. She scored both goals in that matchup including the game winner in the second overtime.

She took 55% of the poll, with 4,342 votes.

Here were the other nominees:

Sybil Thompson, Bald Eagle soccer: The Bald Eagle girls’ soccer team was led by Sybil Thompson during the week. Thompson scored two goals against Tyrone in the first game of the week and followed it up with three more goals against Moshannon Valley for a total of five across the two games she played in.

Ella Hadley, Penns Valley volleyball: It was a big week for Ella Hadley, for both her career and her performances in the matches she played in. Hadley had 17 kill and 20 digs across two matches against Philipsburg-Osceola and Hollidaysburg — including her 500th kill of her career in the latter matchup.

Devon Jackson, State College cross-country: State College girls’ cross-country opened its season at the Big Valley invitational, with Devon Jackson posting a personal best time and finishing third at the event. She finished with a time of 18:56.00.

Jackson finished second in the poll with 37% of the vote and 2,943 votes.

Chloe Matson, Philipsburg-Osceola soccer: Philipsburg-Osceola’s Chloe Matson opened her soccer season with a big performance last week. She netted three goals in the team’s matchup with Clearfield, helping push the matchup to overtime for the Mounties.

For the CDT’s Athlete of the Week polls this season, we will take nominations from all six county athletic departments for both a boys’ and girls’ athlete of the week. Voting for this poll ended Sunday. As a reminder, the poll is not scientific and just for fun. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. Look for future polls at CentreDaily.com.
