Poll results: Bellefonte swimmer named boys athlete of the week for Feb. 19-25
A Bellefonte swimmer was the boys athlete of the week for Feb. 19-25, as selected by readers of CentreDaily.com.
Bellefonte’s Carter Boone is a state qualifier after winning three gold medals and a silver medal at districts. Boone won the 200 free and the 100 butterfly, along with being on Bellefonte’s first-place 200 medley relay team. He added a silver medal in the 200 free relay.
Boone had 327 votes, or 47% of the vote.
Below is a look at the other nominees:
Jesse Myers, State College boys track and field: State College boys track and field’s Jesse Myers took part in the PTFCA State Indoor Track & Field Championships at Penn State, coming away with a silver medal. He was part of the second-place distance medley relay team, while also finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash and seventh in the 60-meter dash.
Liam Quigley, Penns Valley boys swimming: Penns Valley’s Liam Quigley took home two gold medals from the District 6 Class 2A Swimming Championships. Quigley won the 100 free and the 100 breaststroke, breaking the meet record in the latter with a time of 58.79 seconds.
He was a close second place in the poll, with 317 votes.
