A handful of favorites were once again some of the most popular names for babies born at Mount Nittany Medical Center in 2024, though most of the top 10 for boys and girls were newcomers.

Oliver claimed the top spot for boys, jumping up from second in 2023. Theodore ranked fourth, making it the only boys’ name to appear on the list each of the past three years. Parker — the name of the first baby born this year at the hospital — ranked No. 6.

Lainey was the most popular choice this year among girls’ after not appearing anywhere in the top 10 since at least 2021. Harper slotted in at No. 5 and Emma was No. 7, meaning each returned to the list for at least the fourth consecutive year.

Only two names this year — Theodore and Scarlett — were made up of more than six letters. Neither of the top boys’ and girls’ names in 2023 — Henry and Charlotte — made this year’s list.

Nearly 1,200 babies were born at the hospital as of Dec. 18, down about 4% from recent years.
