Pennsylvania’s municipal election is here, and polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

With local supervisor and council races on the ballot, along with board of education seats, district attorney and judicial retention questions, below is a look at what to know in Centre County.

What’s on the ballot?

What’s on your ballot depends on where you live, and you can check sample ballots by precinct here. Many municipalities have races for council and supervisor seats, and there are four school board seats up for election in every Centre County school district. State College Area School District also has a two-year interim seat on the ballot.

Centre County voters will also choose a district attorney — Bernie Cantorna is running unopposed — and jury commissioners. Tax collector, inspector of elections, judge of elections and district judge may also be on your ballot.

All ballots across Pennsylvania have judicial retention questions. Voters will choose whether to give three judges on the state Supreme Court more time on the bench, an election that has become unusually contentious this year. Judge Katie Oliver in the Centre County Court of Common Pleas is also up for retention.

What to know about mail-in ballots

More than 10,000 Centre County residents have already returned their ballots, according to the county’s vote by mail data. If you still have a mail ballot, do not put it in the mail. Mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by the Elections Office by 8 p.m. Tuesday. That means you can hand-deliver it to the Elections Entrance of the Community Services Building, 502 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, which will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Note that this is a new location, as the elections office recently relocated from the Willowbank Building.

Centre County ballot drop boxes are now closed. Track your vote-by-mail ballot here.

If you still have your mail ballot but want to vote in person instead, bring it with you to your polling place and turn it over to poll workers.

A live video stream of pre-canvassing activities in the Community Services Building will be available starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday on YouTube: stream view 1 and stream view 2.

What to know about voting in person

If you’re voting in person, all polling places are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday. As long as you’re in line by 8 p.m., you’re entitled to vote. You can look up your polling place by address here.

If you’re not sure if you’re registered to vote, you can check that here. If you’re voting at a polling place for the first time, you’ll need to bring proof of identification.

Where to find election results

After polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Centre County Board of Elections will start to upload unofficial results to its website and the Pennsylvania Department of State’s website.

All results are unofficial until certified by the board of elections.
