Penn State dominated Indiana to pitch the 24-0 shutout and move to 5-0 on the season. Next up is the equally undefeated Hawkeyes in Iowa City.
Here’s what happened:
Penn State pitches the 24-0 shutout against Indiana and is now 5-0 heading into its matchup with 5-0 Iowa at Kinnick next week.

Ta'Quan Roberson is in the game at quarterback.

Jack Tuttle lofts a ball right to Ji'Ayir Brown who earns his third interception of the year.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Jordan Stout connects from 50 yards out to make it 24-0 in favor of the Nittany Lions with 8:06 on the clock.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Keyvone Lee gets stuffed at the goal line and Indiana will take over.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Sean Clifford is getting it done with his legs tonight. An 18-yard rush to get Penn State down to the Indiana six.
— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 3, 2021
Jahan Dotson PASSES AGAIN. 21 yards to Parker Washington for a first down.
— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 3, 2021
21-0 Penn State after the third quarter.
— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 3, 2021
Strike that, Brandon Smith got to it.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Michael Penix is out for the rest of the game with a shoulder injury, IU spokesman says.

Another great job of using his legs to create space to make a throw by Clifford. This time it's Dotson on the receiving end for a touchdown. Dotson's man abandoned the coverage when it looked like Clifford was set to take off and left the WR wide open. 21-10, Penn State.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Arnold Ebiketie just dominated RT Caleb Jones there. Great play by Ebiketie to close the drive and get the ball back to Penn State.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Jack Tuttle is in the game at QB for Indiana.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Penix is up and walking off after staying down after the play.

— Molly McGrath (@MollyAMcGrath) October 3, 2021
Penn State leads 14-0, but it doesn't feel that close. The PSU defense has been suffocating.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Jahan Dotson's 2nd quarter TD reception from Sean Clifford gives him 6-straight games with a catch for a score, dating back to last season. That is a Penn State record.
— Greg Kincaid (@GoPSUGreg) October 3, 2021
Indiana trying to run the clock out is definitely a decision.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Kind of a stunning call by IU there, down just 14-0, to go up gut on third-and-4 near midfield. Or are Tom Allen and the Hoosiers leaving at halftime?
— Neil Rudel (@NeilRudel) October 3, 2021
Nice throw by Clifford there but Dotson doesn't separate from the defender early enough and it falls incomplete.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Joey Porter Jr. gets the interception but Jesse Luketa deserves credit for getting in Penix's face there.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
First career interception for Joey Porter Jr.
— Greg Kincaid (@GoPSUGreg) October 3, 2021
Run game looks significantly improved today. Maybe it's the matchup, but 14 carries for 101 yards against a Big Ten opponent is nothing to sneeze at. https://t.co/rn5Cg7d8zB
— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 3, 2021
Indiana continues to run on every first down.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Penix does not look comfortable when Penn State gets pressure. That's another three-and-out.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Sean Clifford connects with Jahan Dotson. They tie the school record for the top QB-Recevier tandem for TDs with Todd Blackledge and Kenny Jackson (17).
— Greg Kincaid (@GoPSUGreg) October 3, 2021
Jahan Dotson is a safety blanket in the end zone pic.twitter.com/gR1N4A6Dh8
— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) October 3, 2021
And it doesn't matter because Jahan Dotson is still very good. Good back shoulder throw by Clifford to hit his top target and great body control by Dotson to get back around and catch it. 14-0, Penn State.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
That's a pretty bad call. Strange wasn't on the line of scrimmage.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Entering the game, Keyvone Lee had 20 rushes for 100 yards (5.0 yards per carry). One of the keys to the game from @JonSauber and I was to get him more involved, along with John Lovett. Lee has two carries for 46 yards. Lovett has three carries for six yards.
— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 3, 2021
Penn State leads 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. The defense once again looks elite.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
That 44-yard run for Keyvone Lee is a career-long rush for the sophomore, besting his previous mark of 31 yards at Rutgers last season.
— Greg Kincaid (@GoPSUGreg) October 3, 2021
Keyvone Lee looks really good when he isn't fumbling or trying to do too much. He and John Lovett look like Penn State's best two running backs at this point.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Huge stop for Penn State's defense after the Clifford interception.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Clifford had Washington open early and Dotson downfield late, but instead throws it to Washington late and it results in an interception. Indiana's offense can't do anything right now, but plays like that will keep the Hoosiers in the game.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Sean Clifford finds Brenton Strange for the score. It's Strange's fifth career TD reception.
— Greg Kincaid (@GoPSUGreg) October 3, 2021
It's Clifford's 50th career TD pass.
No. 4 @PennStateFball wants revenge tonight.@seancliff14 and @BrentonStrange just combined to give the Nittany Lions the early lead. pic.twitter.com/BZGLtGKxp0
— Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) October 3, 2021
Penn State opens the scoring on a 10-yard pass from Clifford to Brenton Strange. Clifford was about to take off, but pulled up and hit Strange when he saw him break away near the sideline. 7-0, PSU.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Great job of avoiding the pressure and getting the big gain on the ground by Sean Clifford.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 3, 2021
Thought the same. It's still the only pass Penix has completed. He's 1 for 7. https://t.co/wDPHSxivcD

— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 2, 2021
One of Indiana's top corners won't be playing tonight. https://t.co/wd4Av3xJSz
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 2, 2021
Noah Cain is back and he rushes for 9 yards. on the first play. Penn State's running game needs to get going and the offensive line clearing holes like they did there is how they do it.
— Kyle J. Andrews (@KyleJAndrews_) October 2, 2021
Nick Tarburton does a great job of getting his hands up to deflect that pass at the line of scrimmage. Penn State defense earns the quick three-and-out.
— Jon Sauber (@JonSauber) October 2, 2021
Penn State wins the toss and will defer to the second half.
