Penn State QB Drew Allar informs coaching staff of intention to return for 2025, per source
Penn State football is expected to have its starting quarterback back for next year.
Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar told the team’s coaching staff that he intends to return for the 2025 season, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported the news on Monday morning.
Allar put out a statement of his own on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I know there’s still more work to do which is why I look forward to making more memories with my teammates this year and beyond,” his statement read.
Allar has thrown for 2,894 yards and 21 touchdowns this season to help lead Penn State to an 11-2 record and appearance in the College Football Playoff. He and the rest of the Nittany Lions will take on SMU Saturday at noon in Beaver Stadium in the first round of the playoff.
His decision comes after backup quarterback Beau Pribula said he is entering the transfer portal and will not be with the team for the playoff.
