What’s the new, temporary seating like in Beaver Stadium? Here’s a first look

Penn State season ticket holders got a sneak peak at Beaver Stadium renovations Friday evening before the season opener against Nevada.

Fans were given early access to find their seats and get familiar with the temporary stands that have been installed on the west side of the stadium. It’s part of a $700 million stadium renovation project, which has created a number of big changes this season.

The Centre Daily Times went in with season ticket holders Friday evening to get look at the venue before the Nittany Lions take on the Nevada Wolf Pack Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Here’s an inside look at Beaver Stadium with less than 24 hours until kickoff.

To get to the temporary seating, fans will enter through gates B and C on the west side of the stadium, with access to the field level seating on that side of the field — not dissimilar to how the stadium was previously. The temporary seating in the upper level will be accessible from the upper concourse, just as the north and south upper levels are. That can be reached by going up any of the four stair towers on the west side of the stadium that were put in place this offseason.

Because the bleachers have a large gap underneath them, there will be staff members underneath in case someone drops a personal item to the bottom, Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft said last week.

The renovation project will continue during the week, and then on game days the venue will transform back into one of the largest stadiums in all of college football, with a temporary capacity of 106,304.
