Nittany Mall has reopened, but another store is now closed for good

Kay Jewelers closed its Nittany Mall location May 22, a company spokesman said Monday, making it at least the fifth business to leave the mall this year.

Happy Wraps ditched the shopping center for Bellefonte, Emporium Market moved to downtown State College, and Macy’s and Express also closed.

The nearest Kay Jewelers for many Centre County residents is now at 214 Park Hills Plaza, Altoona.

The retail chain did not respond to additional questions Monday, including about how many people were employed or why the store closed.

Nittany Mall reopened on Friday in the “green phase” of Pennsylvania’s reopening plan, though shopping malls are limited to a 50% occupancy level.
