Openings, closings and other Centre County business changes from May you may have missed
The future of the Bellefonte Armory property came into focus this month, plus plans for a new dance studio and a brewery were announced.
Here’s a look at the Centre County business news you may have missed in May.
On the move
Blonde Bistro announced it would close May 28 at Axemann Brewery. Owner Ciara Semack plans to open in a larger location in the Bellefonte area in late June or early July. A new food provider is expected to be in place by the end of June.
Saying goodbye
- After almost two years in business, Crust & Crumb Cafe closed, owner Amber Winkler wrote on social media. The cafe at 115 E. Beaver Ave. opened in fall 2020.
- Woodring’s Floral Gardens and the Amazon Hub, both on South Allen Street in downtown State College, closed their doors.
New spots
- New Penn State graduate Bri Clemente announced plans to open Lucky Star Dance Company at 1510 Martin St. in State College. The dance studio’s grand opening is scheduled for June 13.
- A group led by local businessman Duane Reese purchased the Bellefonte Armory property. He plans to bring a brewery, tasting room, distillery, restaurant and bar to the site.
- Dead Canary Brewing Co. will open in late summer or early fall at 5 N. Front St. in Philipsburg. The nanobrewery should be open Friday through Sunday.
