Recognizing the class of 2020
School districts across Centre County had their academic years cut short in March, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced school closures and remote learning. For seniors, it also meant the loss of milestone moments and months to make memories with classmates. The Centre Daily Times recognizes and congratulates the resilient class of 2020.

The eight members of the Centre County Christian Academy graduated Saturday in a drive-in ceremony on the Bellefonte school’s soccer field. In a shorter and less formal ceremony than usual, the seniors showed their ability to take the challenges of the past months in stride, wearing matching “Senior 2020” shirts that incorporated toilet paper — a high-demand item during the COVID-19 pandemic — into the design.
What’s a cherished memory from the class of 2020?
Senior Class President Landon Reed: If I had to choose just one of our class’s favorite moments, it would have to be our homecoming this year. It was our favorite because we all got to dress up and look fancy. Our school also showed us major support as we did a little parade for our homecoming night. We seniors got to hang out, take pictures to remember for the rest of our lives, and ride in the coolest party van ever! It was certainly a night to remember!
What makes the class of 2020 special?
CCCA Administrator Kristy Smith: Centre County Christian Academy’s graduating class of 2020 will leave a long-lasting mark on the culture of our student body. This class has a unique blend of students with leadership skills who have been propelling us forward for several years now. Their desire to promote good has taken flight over the last couple years as they have grown in their ability to take their ideas and make them happen. We have watched them accomplish not only improving school life here but also raising support and funds to support children on the other side of the world. It is evident that God is laying out wonderful plans for each one of these graduates. Our motto this year has been the greatest commandment: “Love God & Love Others.” As these graduates continue to love and serve God, He will help them to reach and change the world around them.
