Penn State Football

Where did Penn State football land in the AP top 25 poll after the bye week?

Penn State dropped a spot to No. 3 in the Associated Press Top-25 poll after its bye week, with a top-10 showdown ahead when Oregon comes to town this weekend.

Miami leapfrogged Penn State and LSU to land in the No. 2 spot after defeating Florida 26-7 on Saturday, and two ranked opponents before that. Ohio State, which was also on bye for Week 4, kept its No. 1 spot in the poll, which was released Sunday afternoon.

The Ducks are at No. 6 in the poll, the same spot as last week. They’ll be the Nittany Lions’ first ranked opponent, and the Ducks will need to contend with a Beaver Stadium White Out.

Other ranked Big Ten teams include Indiana (No. 11), Michigan (No. 19) and Illinois (No. 23).

Penn State had 1,460 voting points, including five first-place votes. The total is 27 more than No. 4 LSU and 19 fewer than Miami.

The Nittany Lions will try to improve its ranking after the matchup with the Ducks. Saturday’s White Out game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ESPN’s College GameDay is also making a stop in Happy Valley for the highly-anticipated game.
