July means festival season for Centre County, and there’s plenty to do outside during the hottest month of the year. Residents and visitors alike can look forward to multi-day celebrations like the People’s Choice Festival and Arts Fest, while foodies may be lured into WingFest and Hoppy Valley Brewers Fest.

WingFest

When: July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 (Thursdays in July)

Where: Tussey Mountain

What: Every Thursday in July there will be an outdoor concert and wing competition at Tussey Mountain. A winning wing vendor will be determined each week, with a final showdown taking place between all the previous winners on Aug. 7 to determine the Tussey Mountain Wing King. The event is open to all ages and will include other food vendors for those needing a palate cleanse.

Central PA Fourth Fest

When: July 4 (Friday)

Where: Downtown State College and University Park campus

What: State College’s longtime Fourth of July celebration will include a 4K run through Penn State campus, a downtown parade that begins at 11 a.m., a car show from 12-5 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m. Vendors will line the street all day offering food, crafts and entertainment.

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo

When: July 6, 13, 20, 27 (Sundays in July)

Where: Talleyrand Park, Bellefonte

What: There will be an hour of live music every Sunday at 7 p.m. in Talleyrand Park, featuring genres ranging from rock to jazz. The acts scheduled for July include Jonny Bull, Tommy Wareham, Deacons of Dixieland and Jim Leary.

Philipsburg Heritage Days

When: July 8-12 (Tuesday-Saturday)

Where: Philipsburg (multiple locations)

What: Since 1998, Philipsburg Heritage Days have aimed to honor the history of the borough. The festivities will start with a block party on July 8. Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts

The Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition will run from July 10-13, where artists and entrepreneurs will sell art, jewelry, housewares and more. There will be live music and food vendors throughout.

People’s Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts

When: July 10-13 (Thursday-Sunday)

Where: Grange Park, Centre Hall

What: People’s Choice will look to help attendees beat the heat with its Christmas in July theme this year, which will include snow on the ground and a cameo from Santa Claus himself. Local artists, musicians and food vendors will gather in Grange Park for this four-day event, and there will also be family activities throughout.

Art in the Orchard

When: July 10-12 (Thursday-Saturday)

Where: Way Fruit Farm, Port Matilda

What: Way Fruit Farm will host its fifth annual Art in the Orchard event this year, which will include an array of artists, crafters, food trucks and vendors. Admission and parking is free, and there will be live music throughout.

Hoppy Valley Brewers Fest

When: July 19 (Saturday)

Where: Porter North Lot, attached to Medlar Field

What: More than 75 breweries from Pennsylvania (and surrounding states) are expected to gather at one of Penn State’s most popular tailgating lots for Hoppy Valley Brewers Fest. In addition to the drinks, there will be live performances during the day. Attendees must be 21 and over and bring ID; tickets can be purchased online.

State College Criterium

When: July 26 (Saturday)

Where: Downtown State College

What: A high-speed bicycle race will hit the streets of downtown State College, as top cyclists will compete for this year’s state championship. There are competitions for several categories, and racing will begin at 9 a.m. There will also be youth races later in the day.

Movies Under the Stars

When: July 26 (Saturday)

Where: Sidney Friedman Park, State College
