The Field Burger & Tap has been chosen by readers as the best place to get a burger in our latest poll.
The Field won with 83 votes (31%) of the 267 cast in the poll, which was open June 1-6. The poll was not scientific and was just for fun. State Burger Co. finished second with 45 votes (17%), while Sauly Boys came in third with 43 votes (16%).
CDT reporter Jon Sauber wrote about The Field, his favorite burger place, as part of our “Hungry in Happy Valley” series He got an early taste of the Dambach-ery, a combination burger/Philly cheesesteak named after the Penn State women’s soccer coach.
Readers also let us know about some can’t-miss burger joints that we missed in the poll. Honorable mentions go to the Hublersburg Inn and Elk Creek Cafe and Aleworks in Millheim (it’s worth the trip, a reader wrote). Ville Billy’s in the Nittany Mall also received a nod for its Buck Burger, which comes with bacon, a large onion ring and barbecue sauce.
A new Hungry in Happy Valley poll will be posted Thursday at CentreDaily.com.
