Alyson Lush and Hobart Kistler were the recipients of the James Snyder Award at Penns Valley Area High School on Saturday night. The award, sponsored by the Centre Daily Times, is given in memory of Snyder, a former CDT sports editor, who was killed in an automobile accident in December of 1957.

STATE COLLEGE — While the Hall of Fame Summer Softball Classic is supposed to be a game where graduated seniors have fun and make new friends, don’t think that winning isn’t on the agenda, too.
The Bald Eagle Area softball team will face Brandywine Heights in the PIAA Class AA Championship at noon on Friday at Shippensburg University's Robb Field.

Over the past six softball seasons, the two schools go together like salt and pepper. One has seen its season end at the hands of the other in the District 6 Class AA Tournament, while the winner has gone on to capture the title.Matt Fisher, Bellefonte
The senior baseball player had four hits and drove in three runs in District 6 Class AAA playoff victories over Indian Valley and Somerset. Fisher went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in a 9-4 win over Somerset that gave the Red Raiders the district title. Adams, a junior, placed seventh in the triple jump at the PIAA Class AA Track & Field Championships last week at Shippensburg University. Adams also placed 12th in the long jump and along with her teammates broke the school record in the 4x100 relay.It’s baseball season, so it was entirely appropriate for the PIAA Board of Directors to toss a couple of curveballs at its spring meeting Thursday morning.
